Axial Theater is an ensemble based not-for-profit theater company currently in its 24th season. We are dedicated to supporting the professional development of playwrights and actors through presenting staged workshops, development readings, and full productions.
Axial's BOOK IN HAND Series Presents:
A playwright forces characters to confront every stereotype, genre and formulaic storytelling structure she can throw at them as they struggle to figure out who gets the happy ending.

BOOK IN HAND was born out of a need for the audience.
Through a simple reading with light direction and rehearsal, the playwright is helped to see and hear if the words communicate the heart of the story.
It is a unique and intimate experience for the audience, director, actors and playwright.
Come enjoy an afternoon of original one act plays written by the students of HMActing's Playwriting class. These one acts are the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. This presentation gives the student playwrights the opportunity to see and hear their work read by actors in a way that provides a vital next step for the writer.
